NEW BUILD PROJECT FULHAM

Concept proposal for a modern 200m² new build three storey family home in Fulham, London. Space for the development was provided by demolishing a crippled garage and clearing out end of terrace residential use site.
The main challenge was to create a suitable 'infill' between period buildings, taking on board planners’ comments, client's requirement for the adequate space and contemporary design ideas. The solution was achieved by creating an 'up-side-down' house, moving the main living area to the top floor to maximise the natural daylight. Bedrooms were arranged over ground and lower ground floors looking out to the internal patio. This arrangement provided a much desired sense of privacy on the site where the space was constrained by the surrounding multi storey buildings. To meet the client's brief the house was complete with a basement level gym and home cinema.
The modern exterior design and materials for this new residential project were chosen to stand in contrast and help achieve the subordinate feel to the neighbouring period buildings. This design approach allowed to create a deceitfully low key building hiding its bulk volume underground, whilst providing a substantial size family home.
