Winchmore Hill, London
The proposal was a refurbishment and side extension to a terraced four bedroom Victorian house in North London providing an adequate space and light on the ground floor level where rooms were dark and disconnected from each other.
As it is often the case with old traditional houses, the main living spaces are usually inadequate in size and disproportionate to the rest of the house having a negative impact on a quality of life of those living in them.
Our proposal involved designing a side extension and completely remodelling the ground floor layout to accommodate a new kitchen and guest bathroom. The living space was almost doubled by adding a glass and aluminium construction to the length of the side wall which allowed to maximize the natural light in the North facing part of the house.
This major house refurbishment completely transformed the most used area of the house. New large glazed openings offer an uninterrupted view to the outside and connect living spaces with the outdoor terrace and mature garden.
